This week, more than 250 city leaders convened in Cleveland for the National League of Cities 2017 Summer Board and Leadership Meeting. Hosted by NLC President Matt Zone, the meeting provided a platform for NLC’s board of directors, federal advocacy committees and member networking councils to discuss the organization’s advocacy priorities and policy positions.
Here’s our roundup of the week, told through the eyes of the city leaders who made it great. NLC’s members arrived in Cleveland to find the city ready to welcome them:
President Zone kicked off the proceedings by settling a bet, with help from Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Toronto, Ontario, Councillor Josh Matlow.
City leaders heard from NLC CEO Clarence Anthony, who spoke about “Doing Something Different” — his vision for NLC’s new advocacy platform.

Finally, NLC’s spectacular host city wrapped the week up with a party and a warm farewell, highlighting Cleveland’s vibrant arts and culture.
